Remember the ThinkPad brand of laptop computer? Well, IBM’s PC division was sold to Lenovo in 2005 and, after a year or so, it seems the brand has made a comeback. Not only are the reviews good, but the prices are excellent. For more information on Lenovo visit their US site. For an interesting view of the history of the ThinkPad, consult the Wikipedia.

Dell PowerEdge 2850 Server - Half Off
In need of a great server at a low price? We’ve got a refurbished Dell PowerEdge 2850 rack mount server that’s loaded with the features that power users want. Out of the box, the Dell server has 8GB of memory and 6 x 146GB Disk Drives. (Yes, I said SIX!) As you’d expect, it comes standard with a 1-year 100% warranty.
What’s the press saying about this Dell? PCMagazine said:
Latest hardware makes good base for future expansion. Dell OpenManage 4 is a decent upgrade to management software. Daughter cards give sys admins 24/7 accessibility to downed servers without taking valuable PCI space. Server is definition of easy to service. Dell has improved the fan management (quite a bit quieter than the PowerEdge 2650)
Looking for the official specs? We found the PDF specs for the Dell PowerEdge 2850 here. There aren’t many of these, so move quickly to snap up this bargain.

Sony VAIO 15.4" Notebook for Under $1000
Wow. I recently bought a new notebook and knew a few things: I wanted a 15.4" screen, an Intel processor, 1 GB of RAM and a brand I could trust. Sony was one of the top brands on my list. Why? Their reputation for quality electronics is good enough, but their laptops in particular are known for having bright displays, being light weight and include lots of media-centered features. Oh, did I mention that I wouldn’t pay more than $1000?
Enter the Sony VAIO VGN-N320E Notebook. I have seen prices under $830 for this laptop. It features:
- Windows Vista Home Premium
- 15.4-inch LCD screen
- 1.60 GHz Intel Core Duo T2060 processor
- 1 GB RAM
- 120 GB hard drive
- DVDRW Drive
Deal! Yes, it’s also got WiFi, Firewire, a few USB ports too. And this isn’t a refurbished notebook, the price is available on brand new, factory sealed package models. With 6 reviews yielding a rating of 3.5, it’s a good bargain for good features.
HP Pavilion S3020N Desktop PC Review
Here’s a great deal I found on the HP Pavilion S3020N - only $580.00. Features:
- Powerful, slim PC that’s one-third the size of a traditional PC tower; 2.0 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ dual-core processor
- 250 GB hard drive, 1 GB installed RAM (2 GB max), multi-format/dual-layer LightScribe DVD drive
- Connectivity: 5 USB, 1 FireWire, 1 VGA, 1 headphone, 1 microphone, 1 S/PDIF out, 2 PS/2, 15-in-1 memory card reader
- 54g Wi-Fi LAN (802.11b/g), 10/100 Ethernet, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 video card with up to 319 MB shared memory
- Pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium (with Media Center capabilities)
This desktop also comes preinstalled with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, which includes all of the Windows Media Center capabilities for turning your PC into an all-in-one home entertainment center. In addition to easily playing your DVD movies and managing your digital audio library, you’ll be able to record and watch your favorite TV shows (even HDTV). Vista also integrates new search tools throughout the operating system, includes new parental control features, and offers new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures.
It appears most users rate it a 4 out of 5 stars, with one person comenting “First off, I give the PC unit 5 stars, and I give the Vista software 3 stars. This makes an average of 4 stars.” I agree, Vista is a negative.
